Christiane F. - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo (). This movie portrays the drug scene in Berlin in the s, following tape recordings of Christiane F. year-old Christiane lives with her mother and little sister in a typical multi-story apartment building in Berlin. She"s fascinated by "The Sound", a new disco with the most modern equipment. Trailers and Videos. The area became a heap of garbage and there was an open war between rival drug gangs, so the Swiss government shut it down in the s. I'm still Libreoffice 7 about these little touching things in life. She's fascinated by the 'Sound', a new disco with Tropical Island Dschungelcamp modern equipment.
A junkie destroys not just himself, but also other people. That being a drug addict is the worst of fates. So what drives young people into such a mess?
Let this be a warning to all those that stand before the choice: shall I try just once? Idiots, just look at me! The main premise was voluntary admission.
None of the set-up was directed at drug abusers that were still children. The despair of Christiane's mother is shown through her own words, intermittently through the book.
This is an eye-opening book, although it shows aspects of life that one would rather not see. Just this morning I read a headline in the paper that the yearly death rate from illegal drugs in the United States is now higher than the number of people killed in traffic.
It does not seem that the problem has gotten smaller. I think this is becoming a classic nowadays.
It has an important message that all teenagers should hear and that is-DRUGS ARE BAD FOR YOU! It's just written in a style that I don't like and at some parts I found it disgusting but I guess it couldn't been written any other way.
Anyways, there aren't many things that should be said about this book except that you SHOULD read it. In my opinion a must read! Oh, God! Reading this book was a terrible experience, but I don't regret it.
Every kid should read it. Luckily, I never felt the need to try drugs, and I never knew anybody who used hard drugs.
Some of the people I know smoke weed, but as far as I know, that's all. Like I said, I never even tried anything including cigarettes, and I don't plan to.
That doesn't mean that I think of myself as a better person than others. I have my reasons for staying clean, and they have their own for doing drugs.
I'm not saying that those reasons are valid, but we all cope with our problems differently. Sometimes I wanted to scream at Christiane, sometimes I wanted to hug her etc.
But most of all, I wanted to help her and be there for her. I cant blame her for what she did. Not completely.
I don't blame her parents either. Yes, they could have done more, but you cant really know what to do in a situation like that.
Christiane wanted to get clean, but nobody helped her. Her mother was pretending that everything was normal, her dad was a POS, authorities were turning her away etc.
She was just a kid, what was she supposed to do? Nobody helped her! They all turned their heads away. And as much as I would like to help to every person in this world not just to addicts , I can't.
They need to help themselves. But they need support too. Unfortunately, we often react the same way as Christiane's mother, for example.
We pretend that we don't see anything. Sadly, things are not much better today. Drugs are still out there, young kids have nobody to guide them People die from overdosing When I read this book the first time, I was 14 and I remember that for some reason it made me want to become a drug-addict, which I don't believe is the influence that the writers where hoping to have on kids with this book.
I guess i thought that there was something fascinating, almost romantic to that way of living. So, I haven't been to The New Beverly in awhile and it was great to see this.
It was part of a double feature, but it had sold out and luckily enough people left so I could see this one. It was a stark tale of drug addiction in Germany in the s.
I was reminded of Fassbinder, because at first the characters did Valium and Mandrax barbiturates. Even though, Fassbinder's main drug of choice was coke and these teens did heroine.
One of the most memorable scenes is when they are going through withdrawals, trying to get clean. This review may contain spoilers.
I can handle the truth. Heroin at Natja Brunckhorst's performance here is nothing short of a miracle some parts so upsetting I couldn't even look at the screen like when she projectile vomits everywhere when she's going through withdrawals - completely uncompromising sending her up in the pantheon of all time great young actor performances.
Possibly the saddest autobiographical film. Delicately filmed, documentary like, and amazingly paced - less of an arc, more of a descent.
It never feels exploitative of its young star though the camera tracks her through her fragility, anger, shock and sadness.
A beautifully crafted piece of cinema, so evocative of its time and place, despite being hard to watch in places.
We just thought the book would be special interest, just one book among thousands. But we were so wrong. Suddenly I was famous, but I wasn't able to work out what this would mean to my life.
To the public I was the famous drug addict, like an exhibit. They all wanted to talk to me, to see me and to ask, "Will she make it or not?
Is she dead yet? Is she still an addict? Christiane F is cool from afar, but not too close, please! They're not interested in anything about me, besides being a junkie.
That's the reason why I regret doing the book and film. You started off anonymous. W hy did you decide to break cover?
Because I was damn young and simply didn't know what it would mean to my life. And nobody took care of my interests. That's why. Bernd Eichinger [the film's producer] asked me to do promotion for the movie in the US because Natja Brunkhorst, who played me, was too young and her father wouldn't allow her to go to America.

Christiane f. Christiane starts taking LSD in addition to abusing pills, and befriends a girl her age named Babsi.
After a David Bowie concert, Christiane tries heroin for the first time. As she falls in love with Detlev, Christiane begins using heroin on a regular basis in order to be close to him, gradually becoming more and more dependent on the drug until she is a full-blown addict.
After her 14th birthday, Christiane stops going home and spends more and more time at her cohorts' unkempt apartment; she is also drawn to Bahnhof Zoo , a large train and subway station notorious for the drug trafficking and prostitution that takes place in its underpasses and back alleys.
Christiane also starts to prostitute herself, imitating Detlev, who sells sex favours to male clients on a regular basis in order to support his heroin addiction.
After being discovered unconscious on the bathroom floor at home due to a heroin overdose, Christiane tries going cold turkey with Detlev, an excruciating experience for both of them.
However, they both relapse the moment they revisit Bahnhof Zoo. To fuel her addiction, Christiane steals from home, sells all her possessions, and sinks to abysmal levels.
One day, Christiane and Detlev find their best friend and roommate, Axel, dead in the apartment from a fatal overdose, due to a bad batch of heroin he was sold on the streets that Detlev believes to be strychnine.
Christiane and Detlev quickly run away, ending up at the apartment of one of Detlev's male clients. When Christiane walks in on the two having very loud anal intercourse, she has a breakdown and flees.
Felscherinow contracted hepatitis C from an infected needle in the late s. She suffers from cirrhosis of the liver and rejects interferon treatment because of the side effects.
But I haven't missed out on anything in my life. I am fine with it. So this isn't what I'd recommend: this isn't the best life to live, but it's my life.
When Felscherinow was 19 years old, she came to the United States to promote the film about her; she was arrested for heroin and opium possession and had to leave the country.
She lived with her son born in Teltow , Germany, but, in after they both relocated to Amsterdam , Felscherinow temporarily lost custody of her son in August , after authorities intervened in Berlin.
In an October interview, Felscherinow expressed her frustration with public perceptions of her since the publication of Christiane F.
What bothers me most of all is this Christiane F. Is she finally clean now, or not? As if there is nothing else to say about me. And I can't get clean.
It's just what everyone else has always expected of me. The doctors complain.
